Visual Signal Analysis and Processing Center (VSAP)

VSAP Logo

The Visual Signal Analysis and Processing (VSAP) Research Center is a joint initiative between Al Ghurair University and the University of Bristol, U.K. It aims to provide a focus for all imaging and video research within Al Ghurair University. 

The center’s mission is to be a recognized leader in image and video analysis and processing and to promote the creation of transformative technologies that will benefit the knowledge based economy and improve the well-being of individuals in the society.

VSAP research is centered around three main application domains: Surveillance and Machine Vision; Video Communications and Image Security; Biometrics and Bio-Imaging.

Research Areas

VSAP's objectives are:

  • To reach national and international prominence as an academic source of high quality scientific and technological research and development in practise and service.
  • To support and guide the university in educating the next generation of leaders, innovators and research professionals.
  • To enhance the reputation of the center and advance research growth through strategic academic partnerships and industrial / governmental outreach.
  • To build research capacity through individuals, collaborators, and network to meet current and future evolving needs of the center.
  • To establish and maintain a sustainable, diverse and productive research centre with state-of-the art laboratories and infrastructure to support cutting edge research and academic integration.
  • To showcase and create awareness of the centre to promote its value to the community and society.
