Al Ghurair University has identified priority research areas that intersect departments, institutes and centers, as well as the work of individual faculty, to address some of society's most pressing needs: Aerospace, Transport & Logistics; Energy & Environment; Healthcare; Information & Communication Technology; and Security.

Aerospace

Research includes: Aerospace Structures; Aerospace Manufacturing; Aerospace Nanomaterials; Damage in Structural Aerospace; Computational Aerodynamics/Fluid; Miniature Unmanned Aerial Vehicles/Combustion Dynamics.

Applied Mathematics and Science

Sample areas of research include: Efficient Numerical Methods for Cardiac Simulation; Principal Axis Formulations in Anisotropic Solids Mechanics; Fourier transforms of measure-valued images, self-similarity and the inverse problem.

Biomedical

With research projects ranging from Genetic Etiology of Type 2 Diabetes and Advanced Disease Diagnosis and Drug Delivery, to Cellular Mechanobiology and Cardiovascular Regeneration, Biomedical Engineering at Al Ghurair University is producing highly qualified graduates to address global healthcare issues, as well as for medical and graduate schools.

Civil Infrastructure and Environmental

Reseach includes: Environmental Engineering; Transportation Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; Structural Engineering; and, Water Resources Engineering.

Electrical and Computer

Research areas include: Forensics in the Cloud; Network Intrusion Detection and Intelligent Systems; Applied and Computational Electromagnetics; among many others. 

Humanities and Social Sciences

Research includes: Islamic Studies Regional Cultural Studies; Arabic; English; Communication; Business Studies and Science;Technology and Society

Industrial and Systems

Research areas include: Operations Research; Quality Control in Semiconductor Manufacturing; Intelligent Transportation Systems; Healthcare Systems Engineering; Supply Chain & Logistics; Quality & Reliability Engineering; and, Data Mining.

Mechanical

Research and development projects include: Microelectromechanical Systems; Dynamics and Control; Advanced Materials for Sensor Devices for Biomedical Applications; Fluid-Structure Interaction in Underwater Blast Loading; among many others.

Nuclear

Research includes five clusters: Nuclear Instrumentation and Control (NICL), Nuclear Materials Science (NMSG), Reactor Design and Analysis (RDAG) and Nuclear Environmental and Waste Management (NEWMG), Nuclear Safeguards and Security (NSSG).
