Before his current appointment, Prof. Kyritsis served in the faculty of the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which he joined in 2002. Prior to that, he was a post-doctoral associate and a lecturer at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Yale University. He is an Associate Fellow of AIAA, and the recipient of the R.R. Teetor Award of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the CAREER award of the US National Science Foundation, the Accenture Award for excellence in advising, the Everitt award for excellence in teaching and a Fellow of the Center for Advanced Study of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2007-8). He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Alternative Propulsion and the Journal of Energy Engineering and he serves on the Editorial Board of Combustion and Flame.
